Pilot Ladder & Embarkation Ladder
- Construction:
- Side ropes are secured with manila twine or marline, and each step is anchored with a wooden or plastic chock for stability.
- The last four steps, made of rubber, are designed to withstand the potential squeezing between the ship’s side and pilot boat.
- Spreader Steps:
- To prevent twisting, pilot ladders include spreader steps with a minimum length of 180 cm.
- The first spreader is positioned as the 5th step from the bottom, with additional spreaders placed at every 8th step.
Embarkation Ladder Features:
Embarkation ladders are similar in design to pilot ladders, made with durable hardwood steps and last four steps in rubber and polypropylene or manila rope.
